Not a very popular offering in Ireland, however that’s not to say it’s not badly needed! After spending 5 years in the private childcare sector at a senior level, I was able to identify the following:
- A need for improved partnership with parents and parent communities
- A lack of clear information for parents in respect of their childcare options (ranging from the type of provider available to fees payable and including non-user friendly compliance reports to name but a few!)
- An industry struggle to provide inclusive and diverse childcare offerings which was challenging for both parents and providers
Needless to say the above factors were creating conflict and concern on all sides. As a Director I spent many hours liaising with frustrated, dissatisfied, confused and helpless parents who would have greatly benefited from the insight and support of a third party professional. While parents were always happy to talk with me and appreciated my explanations on their individual concerns, I could recognise that they were never completely satisfied because, as a Director of the company, I could hardly be objective in my support and guidance. This is where the idea for Penguin Consultancy was born.
As a professional with over 10 years experience in business, I can appreciate the daily struggle that many childcare providers are facing. However I am also a parent of both neuro-typical and neuro-diverse children from different ethnic and family backgrounds. As such I am a veteran of having to navigate complicated and often confrontational processes to ensure that the childcare I pay for is of the best quality, aligns with my parenting values and promptly and transparently communicates with me on any issues which concern my children or impact my family.
