As a Masters graduate in the field of business management our co-founder and principal consultant, Emma, is passionate about the importance of a company’s mission statement and core values. She advises that “These key pieces of information should be influencing our consumer decisions if we want to be fully satisfied with the product or service we are investing in”. The same applies to the care we choose for our children.
As a parent making a decision about the day-to-day care of your child, you should always look for providers whose values align with your own. For example, some providers may prioritize healthy eating, others may focus on outdoor play, while another provider might prioritize a child-led curriculum. If a service that is inclusive of different family structures and ethnicities is important to you, you should look for that in the services core values and mission statement. If this is truly a core value of the provider, you should see this reflected throughout their policies, program, decision-making, and service provision.
If you are relying on stay at home parenting, family care, childminding, or nannies, you should discuss in advance your expectations and your priorities for the well-being of your child e.g. no screen time before 5 pm, no sweets before dinner. Where possible, keep a written agreement of these expectations so that they can be referred back to if necessary.
When choosing a childcare consultant, the value concept is no different! The Penguin core values are what we do best, what is our top priority, and how we hope to lead and inspire in the childcare sector. Our values are:
Personal: There is nothing generic about childcare, yet all too often the support and information available to parents are just that. At Penguin we focus on creating bespoke solutions for you and your family. Using our industry experience we source the right information for you, making it accessible so that you feel confident and comfortable making decisions. We prioritize building strong relationships with our clients, which is why we offer a free follow-up consultation with every process and discounts to member clients. Penguin is committed to being with you on every step of your childcare journey.
Communication: What can be more frustrating as a parent than feeling that their voice is not being heard or respected when it comes to the care of their child? Communication breakdown can happen in every childcare situation and has detrimental effects on you, your children, your family, and your work life. At Penguin our role is to listen to your concerns and ensure that your voice is heard and respected. We prioritize open, honest, transparent communication with our parents from day 1 so that you have peace of mind that your concern is being addressed in the best way possible
Community: Community is the founding principal of Penguin. It is the understanding that, as parents, we are not working alone. We are part of a broader community, making the active choice to place our children in care and be raised as part of that community. We believe that when parents work together as a community they can impact change for their children much more effectively. Penguin will support you to build up your parent community and, as a client of our service, you will automatically join the Penguin community and benefit from the resources of this community.
